1Setting Up Your Mytrex MXDConnect the base station to power and your landline.

Setting Up Your Mytrex MXD

The Mytrex MXD is an in-home medical alert system. It needs its specified power supply and a compatible telephone connection to communicate with the monitoring center.

  1. Place the base unit in a central, dry location where you can hear its speaker.
  2. Connect the telephone cord to the correct jack on the base station and to an active, compatible landline connection. Follow the labeled ports on your exact unit.
  3. Connect the manufacturer-supplied power adapter to the base station and a working electrical outlet.
  4. Ask HelpLine to confirm that the unit has completed its setup and can communicate with the monitoring center.
Before publishing: Verify the MXD telephone-port labels, setup sequence, and compatibility with digital/VoIP telephone service against the manual for the unit you install. Never rely on a newly connected unit until a successful test call is confirmed.
2Understanding the Status LightsKnow when to call HelpLine about a light or sound.

Understanding the Status Lights

The base station uses indicators and audible messages to communicate its status. The exact meanings can vary with model configuration.

  • Look at the lights on the base unit and listen for any spoken announcement or warning tone.
  • If a light changes unexpectedly or a warning repeats, note the light color, whether it is steady or flashing, and any words you hear.
  • Contact HelpLine to identify the meaning and determine whether service is needed.
Important: Do not interpret a particular light color as proof that emergency monitoring is working until the exact MXD indicator chart has been verified. A successful connection test is the best confirmation.
3Making an Emergency or Test CallLearn how to request help and check your connection.

Making an Emergency or Test Call

Your Mytrex MXD can be activated using its HELP button or a compatible wearable transmitter supplied with your system.

  1. For an emergency, press the HELP button on the base unit or activate your assigned pendant or wristband according to the instructions provided during installation.
  2. Allow the system to place the call. When the monitoring specialist answers, explain the assistance you need.
  3. For a routine test, contact HelpLine first to confirm the recommended test procedure, then tell the monitoring specialist that you are testing.
  4. Stay connected until the specialist confirms the test is complete.
If you need urgent help: Use the medical alert button. If the system cannot connect, call 911 by another available method.
Verify the exact transmitter activation method and any button-hold instructions for the equipment you issue.
4Testing Your Pendant or Wristband RangeCheck coverage around the areas you use at home.

Testing Your Pendant or Wristband Range

Your wearable transmitter communicates with the Mytrex MXD base station by radio. Its effective range depends on your home's walls, construction and surroundings.

  1. Arrange a range test with HelpLine so that any activation is treated as a test.
  2. Wear the pendant or wristband and test from locations where you spend time, including bedrooms, bathrooms and nearby outdoor areas if applicable.
  3. Wait for confirmation from the monitoring specialist after each activation.
  4. If any location fails, contact HelpLine to discuss relocating the base station or other options.
Do not assume a fixed distance or that coverage extends throughout your yard. Range must be checked in your actual home.
5Fall Detection and Accidental AlarmsUnderstand optional fall-detection transmitters.

Fall Detection and Accidental Alarms

Some Mytrex MXD installations may include a compatible fall-detection pendant. A standard wristband or pendant does not necessarily provide automatic fall detection.

  • Ask HelpLine whether your particular transmitter and service include fall detection.
  • Fall detection cannot identify every fall. If you need help and can reach the button, activate it yourself.
  • If you accidentally activate an alert, speak to the monitoring specialist and explain that you are safe.
  • Do not assume that pressing a button again will cancel a call or stop a dispatch.
Important: The exact fall-detection behavior, sensitivity and cancellation procedure must be verified for the transmitter supplied with your MXD.
6Telephone Connections, Power and TroubleshootingWhat to check when the system is not working normally.

Telephone Connections, Power and Troubleshooting

  • Power issue: Check that the supplied power adapter is connected securely and the outlet has power. Do not open the base station.
  • Telephone problem: Check that the telephone cord is firmly connected to the proper jack and that your landline service is active.
  • Unable to complete a test call: Contact HelpLine. A working household phone does not necessarily confirm the MXD can reach the monitoring center.
  • Power outage: The unit may have backup battery capability, but runtime and battery condition must be confirmed for your specific unit.
  • Changed telephone service: Notify HelpLine before switching to cable, fiber, internet-based phone service or a new provider so compatibility can be checked.
Safety: If you cannot confirm the system is operational, use another way to contact emergency services until HelpLine verifies it. Never assume an untested connection is active.
